Long Term Vision | This is a typical question which demonstrates the need we hope to help fill:
Q: I am a 25 year old single mom. I have a two year old little boy. I have filled out the Federal financial aid packet and I am enrolled in 12 hours this fall semester. Here is my problem: I work a minimum of 40 hours a week and leave my son at a sitter that costs $60 per week. I feel so guilty for not being able to be with him anymore than I can. (He does visit his father a minimum of every other weekend for which I am thankful that he has a relationship with him). On top of the 40 hours and the every other weekend, I am now looking at another 12 hours, finding time to study and still spending quality time with my child.

I know that getting a degree will help us both in the long run, but what about the time I am going to miss out on now? I feel like I already miss too much. I want to know what, if anything, I can do, or any assistance/programs out there to help me be able to possibly stay at home with him, other than when I am at class. Please don't get me wrong, I am not lazy and I do not want to work the system. I just want to get an education so that I can eventually work in a successful position, and be with my little one while getting that degree. Do you have any suggestions for me? Please help. Thank you so very much…

The Vision

The vision for Faith’s House is to support single moms that are struggling by being a resource of information and eventually
a home they can live in while pursuing a higher education program. We will give single moms that believe they have limited life choices but are seeking an education a hand up not just a hand out. We see the mission starting out as a networking group for all single moms and growing into a resource center devoted to informing & being of service. Once the Home is opened, we hope to house at least five single moms and their children (8 and under). Each woman will be required to participate in an educational program that will enable her to be fully self-sufficient. While at Faith’s House she will be lifted up, empowered, and held responsible. Each woman will have responsibility in maintaining the home and supporting all the other women to also get their dreams.

When the women leave they will be educated, powerful, and healed so they can change their life and be a positive impact in their families and communities.

In the Community

Faith’s House, Inc. plans to be active in the community and working in partnership with other area agencies to bring its services into awareness. Some of those agencies include: United Way, Department of Human Resources, Department of Family and Children Services, and the Department of Community Connections. We will also work with pregnancy resource centers, homeless shelters, local churches, and other non-profits.

We realize that Forsyth County has many agencies that offer invaluable services to our community, which we see no need to duplicate. We plan to be in relationship with these organizations so we can bring programs and services easily to the single moms in our community.

When our Home is Open

Once we have a home our prospective residents will undergo an extensive interviewing, drug testing and application process to determine her eligibility for the program as well as informing her of the rules and regulations that are associated with living at Faith’s House.

We bring our educational resources and knowledge to women and help them on their next step towards furthering their education.
